Cathay Century Insurance promote diverse social welfare programs for all ages to fulfill our two main goals of “achieving zero traffic accidents” and “enhancing risk prevention awareness” through our “Accident-Free Riders,” “Zero Accident Academy,” “Campus Traffic Risk Maps,” and “Accident-FreeBikers” programs to reduce traffic safety losses. We also promoted the “Accident-Free Campus” and “Accident-Free Community” programs to enhance public risk awareness, thereby building safe and secure environments.
To strengthen risk prevention awareness of campus bikers and prevent accidents from happening, Cathay Century Insurance launched the “Accident-Free Bikers” program in 2020, gathering together professional bicycle safety personnel and referencing cycling activities developed by traffic and education competent authorities. We also combined the innovative technologies “AR Augmented Reality” and “Realistic Cycling Demonstration” to develop the “Accident-Free Bikers” app for promoting cycling safety education and solving education pain points on lack of cycling safety materials and cycling guidelines on campuses, significantly enhancing learning motivations and willingness to learn in schoolchildren.
To make traffic safety education more interactive and interesting, Cathay Century Insurance launched the “VR Hazard Perception 2.0” tool in 2020 to simulate hazardous driving scenarios and strengthen user reactions to sudden incidents. In 2025, we continued to integrate internal resources with training plans for our business units, optimized activity processes, and maintained Cathay Life Insurance’s collaborations with campus networks to strengthen student understanding of traffic safety concepts and provide preventive education.
In 2014, we established the Zero Accident Academy website to continue promoting correct driving concepts. We uphold the professionalism of loss prevention and public welfare care, and convey the concept of “all-age loss prevention and comprehensive identification” to the general public. Looking ahead, while pursuing sustainable and stable corporate governance, Cathay General Insurance will continue to invest in the research and development of innovative technologies, in the hope of reducing the occurrence of accidents in Taiwan and creating a zero-accident life, and to become an advocate of comprehensive risk prevention education for the people of Taiwan. To raise campus safety risk awareness among students, we launched the “Campus Traffic Risk Maps” program in 2016 to identify traffic accident hotspots in and around school campuses and provide traffic improvement recommendation reports and traffic safety risk maps to schools and students. In September 2025, we initiated an interdisciplinary collaboration with the Ministry of Education and National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University to jointly build the “Campus Traffic Risk Map Website.” Users can enter the address of their school on the website to check accident hotspots within 500 meters and 2 kilometers around campus and obtain customized risk prevention countermeasures for different on-road scenarios.
A safe campus life for students is a social concern of Cathay Century Insurance for a long period of time. After nearly ten years of project implementation since 2012, we worked to develop literacy-oriented courses and teaching materials to help all children develop their talents and achieve lifelong learning. Beginning in 2022, Cathay Century Insurance joined hands with the Department of Digital Technology of National Taipei University of Education to combine industrial and social resources. We developed the board game “Accident-Free Monitor” to serve as a teaching tool that aligns with 2019 Curriculum concepts and philosophies, combining risk management and loss prevention concepts.
Through big data analysis of the National Fire Agency, Ministry of the Interior and insurance claims cases, we found that electrical fires, gas leaks and natural disasters often result in significant loss of life and property. Therefore, we have combined our insurance expertise with loss prevention experience to create the “Accident-free Community”.Cathay Century Insurance continues to provide corporate clients with customized loss prevention training and insurance services, hoping to accelerate the promotion of new and correct concepts of fire survival and electrical safety at home, reduce the proportion of casualties from fire and electrical accidents, and minimize the public’s property damage and the number of casualties.
In 2025, Cathay Century Insurance extended “Micro Heart Project” services to the Yongkang Residential Long-Term Care Facility Affiliated with the Yongan Association located in Luzhou District of New Taipei City. This year, we added prevention courses on electrical safety and traffic safety, and hosted the “Life Safety Double Lectures on Electrical Safety and Traffic Safety” activity, which attracted almost 100 elders and caregivers. These lectures enhanced participants’ ability to identify and prevent disaster risks in daily life, while continuing to spread risk prevention concepts to different neighborhoods and communities. The overall satisfaction score for this activity was 4.98 out of 5 points, and the activity received many positive affirmations from elders, middle-aged and elderly caregivers, and long-term care partners.
Cathay Century Insurance has long been attentive to traffic risks associated with the elderly. This year, we took the lead in the industry by creating customized “Elderly Safety Traffic Risk Maps” for the Tucheng Jincheng Community Long-Term Care Facility Affiliated with the Tongren Kangtuo Long-Term Care Association and the Yongkang Residential Long-Term Care Facility Affiliated with the Yongan Association. Cathay Century Insurance drew exclusive interactive risk maps for the 2 kilometers around these institutes, not only marking high-risk areas such as blind spots in narrow alleys and intersections with heavy traffic, but also including detailed safety reminders and risk avoidance guidelines for elders, accompanying family members, caregivers, and surrounding residents, reminding them to be more cautious when passing through risky areas.
