As a financial institution, Cathay Century Insurance expects to shoulder responsibility as an institutional investor when making investment decisions and make use of its capital to drive the development of corporate governance, social prosperity and environmental protection. Therefore, we have specified in our “Investment Policy” and “Investment Management Process” that we will evaluate the decisionmaking of investment process by considering the United Nations’ Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI) when using the capital. We expect to continue to expand the positive impact of Cathay Century Insurance through the engagement of investees.
Cathay Century Insurance has established comprehensive pre-investment ESG risk assessment and regular survey mechanisms. Our “Responsible Investment Team” monitors ESG changes in existing investment targets and reviews potential risks and opportunities of investee companies using international ESG databases.
Since the issuance of the “Stewardship Principles for Institutional Investors” by the TWSE in 2017, Cathay Century Insurance has established the “Stewardship Principles for Cathay Century Insurance”, which is the first property insurance signatory in Taiwan. We fulfill our postinvestment responsibility, and continue to actively communicate and interact with the investees through direct and indirect engagement. We not only understand the companies’ business operation, but also pay more attention to sustainability issues while pursuing company growth.
